Terms and Conditions
Effective date: September 19, 2026
These terms govern Success Transfer Mentoring and successtransfermentoring.org, an informal initiative owned and operated by the founder, Luciano Ponce, in California.
1 The mentoring service
We provide free peer support to people exploring college-transfer pathways. We welcome participants at the high-school stage and above, including adults from any educational background and country. Our focus is transfer mentoring; we are not a direct high-school-to-college admissions service. Participation is subject to applicable law, mentor availability, and the scope of the service. Minors must meet applicable consent requirements.
We do not charge fees, accept payments for mentoring, sell subscriptions, or impose cancellation charges. We do not discriminate on the basis of protected characteristics or personal background.
2 Appointments
Appointments are scheduled for 15 minutes through Calendly. A mentor may choose to continue longer when available, but additional time is not guaranteed. Meetings normally use Zoom; both parties may agree to a phone call or another suitable method when needed.
Please provide accurate booking information, check the time zone, and notify the other party promptly if you need to cancel or reschedule. Technical difficulties, cancellations, or missed appointments may occur. If a mentor is late or does not attend, email us so we can address the concern.
3 Scope of support
Mentors share personal experience, general information, and suggestions. We do not guarantee admission, transfer, scholarships, credit acceptance, financial aid, academic performance, employment, or any other outcome. A testimonial describes one person’s experience and does not predict yours.
We do not write, complete, or submit applications, essays, assignments, or other work for participants. You remain responsible for your work, decisions, deadlines, and submissions. Verify consequential information with the relevant institution or qualified adviser.
Mentoring does not establish a licensed counseling, legal, financial, medical, or other professional advisory relationship. It does not create an obligation to represent you or provide continuing support beyond agreed appointments. These terms may have legal effect even though the service is free.
4 Conduct and personal boundaries
Participants and mentors must act respectfully. Harassment, threats, discrimination, impersonation, exploitation, disclosure of another person’s private information without permission, and unlawful use are prohibited. Do not request help with fraud, plagiarism, or misrepresentation or interfere with the website’s operation.
Additional contact details and social-media accounts are optional. Any exchange must be mutually agreed, and requests to end personal contact must be respected. We may end a meeting or restrict participation when reasonably necessary to address misconduct, protect participants, or prevent misuse.
5 Recording and images
The initiative does not record sessions. A participant may record only after everyone present expressly agrees, before recording begins. If anyone declines, do not record. Stop if permission is withdrawn. This applies to built-in recording, external devices, and automated recording tools.
Unless separately agreed, an authorized recording is for personal reference only. Do not publish, distribute, or submit it to an outside transcription or AI service without everyone’s separate permission. Comply with applicable recording and privacy laws.
Permission to take a photograph or screenshot and permission to display it publicly are separate from agreement to attend a meeting. Declining does not affect access to mentoring. You may ask us to remove a website image by email.
6 Privacy and optional permissions
The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. Agreement to these terms does not authorize research, testimonials, website photographs, or annual progress emails. Those uses require the separately described permissions. Participants retain ownership of their original written material; an optional permission to use it does not transfer ownership to the platform.
7 Platform ownership and design credit
The founder, Luciano Ponce, owns the platform and the website design and logo transferred by Katherine Zhang. Katherine may credit her design work; this gives her no ownership interest or authority to act for the platform.
Third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners and are subject to applicable licenses. You may use platform resources for personal learning within any stated permission. Do not copy or commercially exploit protected content, use our branding to imply an affiliation, or reproduce a participant’s image without permission or another legal right.
A mentor’s attendance at, or reference to, a school does not by itself establish that school’s sponsorship or endorsement.
8 Availability and responsibility
Third-party services have their own terms and may experience interruptions. We aim to provide useful support, but information may be incomplete or become outdated. To the extent permitted by law, the website and mentoring are provided as available, without warranties of accuracy, suitability, uninterrupted access, or particular results.
Nothing in these terms excludes a right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including responsibility for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or other liability preserved by applicable law.
9 Concerns and changes
You may stop participating at any time. We may change or discontinue features or availability. Revised terms will show a new effective date, with additional notice or agreement where required. Changes do not retroactively expand permissions for previously provided information or images.
California law governs to the extent permitted by applicable law. Mandatory protections under laws that apply to you remain in effect.
